Does anyone know why when I meditate I get anxious and panicky? Who else experiences this?

@AssyrianWitch It might just be that you're using a method that doesn't click with you, but if you have mental health issues, sometimes they don't play nice with standard meditation.

@AssyrianWitch yes, I definitely feel that way. I’ve never been able to create a consistent practice for myself because of it.

@AssyrianWitch Are you doing breathing meditation? Some people have a hard time not hyperventilating when they focus on their breath. It stops happening at its natural needed rate and sort of goes haywire because the brain wants to take charge instead of just letting it happen how it was already happening.

If it's not that, some neurotypes just don't do well with stillness in general. In that case the other recommendations in the links ppl gave may work better.
