Hello! I'm a 19 year old pantheist beginner witch with a large interest in chaos magic. Any chaotes around here? Let me know ✨ #introduction #chaosmagic
@kara what's your experience with choas magic? Do you prefer that paradigm of magic versus anything else? And do you think that even really matters, considering any form of magic you can do can be considered chaos if you believe belief is a tool? just looking for some opinions and answers 👌
@Balladofawitch I am by education and experience a physical scientist, and the only way I was able to get a grip on magick was to experience it directly, in the form of spiritual or mystical experiences. trying to interact with the powers I directly perceived...working with what was immediately available rather than adhering to some kind of established ceremonial structure, is how I got into magick
@kara through your experiences, have you found your magick to be potent enough to acquire the outcome you wanted? How has it worked for you, the way you've approached magic?
@Balladofawitch that's a difficult question for me to answer. I don't think of magick as a means to achieve definite ends. I'm merely trying to guide, and make more harmonious, powers that are swirling about me whether I do anything with them or not. I am a mote caught up in turbulence, a mote that's only just beginning to learn how to ride the turbulence and pick up useful energy from it rather than just being tossed about.
never really thought of it in terms of a definite imposition of will
@kara ah I understand. I'm curious because I'm trying to see how using belief as a tool has gone for other people. I assume it's worked to cultivate good energy for you though
@Balladofawitch yes. I regard belief as a personal thing. my "faith", such as it is, is in my own perceptions. i.e. I will never write off anything I perceive as insignificant, or "just" a hallucination or whatever.
@Balladofawitch that doesn't mean, of course, I have to accept everything I perceive as having the _same_ significance; I have to have some faith, also, in my ability to judge and interpret what I perceive.
@kara I can see that. Thank you for your answers I really appreciate it. What would you recommend as a good concept/idea to approach as a beginner at chaos magic?
@Balladofawitch gosh, I dunno XD I stumbled into this field, and I'm still very new at it
I'd look to some sources. "Condensed Chaos" seems a good text
@kara thank you! I'll look into it ✨ I was thinking I'd read Liber Null & Psychonaut by Peter J. Carroll, good to read ?
@Balladofawitch I know Liber Null is very important, I confess I have yet to read it
@kara I'm gonna try to find a pdf of the books, even though I'd much rather have them in book form 🙃
@Balladofawitch agreed. PDFs aren't a good substitute for paper books yet...
@Balladofawitch im a beginner too but looking to start practicing! just trying to work on my extended-meditation skills first cause i am bad at doing it for more than a few minutes at a time,,,
@nventous so am I! I'm just starting to have a meditation practice, I stopped doing it for awhile. I'm thinking about trying to work with the morrígan as a way of dipping my toes into the concept of belief being a tool in chaos magic. However, being a pantheist I see her more as a projection of a part of myself that resonates with her archetype(s). I'm not sure how to approach her tbh but I know I want to
