Just an old foggie figuring this platform out.

@hillbillyoracle Always excited meet fellow followers.

@hillbillyoracle Welcome! I'm a devotee of The Morrigan as well :_skull: Glad you're here!

I have appalachian family, but the generation before is the last limb in my tree from there.

I live not so far away though, and I have been proud to call many with a description like yours very close friends.

Welcome, I hope you find the fediverse appealing.

@hillbillyoracle How do you believe divination works?

.@cxaro Personal beliefs on divination: the universe will order itself in response to requests and intent. When you ask with an open heart and listen with an open mind and give the universe a way to speak, it will. Tarot cards are my way of letting it speak. I see tending to and refining my spirit through meditation, shadow work, and spiritual development as a way to better master my intent, my listening.

Good day! I have a burning divination question!

I have a tarot deck. Two days ago I asked the question "How best to get through political turmoil and chaos and national despair & malaise in the country I'm currently living in" and drew for a three-card spread: "Death", "The Hanged Man" and "Knight of Swords". I'd interpreted the first two as advice to alter my mindset, but I don't know how to interpret and integrate the 'Knight of Swords" into the reading. Please advise?

@cosullivan It's hard to say and definitely depends on what meanings you bring to the reading but if I had that same question and those cards I would read it as getting more involved, reading more, getting more educated on issues. The Knight of Swords is someone who has dedicated themselves to further study in a focused, rather than haphazard or self assured way. I'd probably also take it as a sign to seek out experts, teachers in that regard who could suggest good material, answer questions.

@hillbillyoracle Hi, I have more questions because I'm interested: if I wanted to know what relationships neglected or damaged the other would be open to reconnecting or strengthening, how do I divine the subjects? What cards do I look for, what spread(s) is/are best?
Q2: I've seen on YouTube readers shuffling six times. If six shuffles is common in a reading, is a reversal of a small fraction of the cards common too? Does one reversal happen even if the deck already has reversed cards?

@cosullivan
Q1: That's morally out of my wheelhouse tbh. I don't think divination should ever be used as a substitute for communications boundaries. If pressed, I would determine the card that best represented the person, shuffle the deck, find the card in the deck, and look at the cards to either side of it. Another version would be to do the same but look at the cards between their and your signifier card. Lots of cards - they want distance. A few, depending on type, they might be open.

@cosullivan Q2: I have never heard of 6 times being a rule by any stretch. The way I shuffle is to think of the question and the querent - a number pops in my head and I shuffle that number of times. My girlfriend shuffles until they "feel right" or the deck stops naturally splitting. Everyone has a different system. As far as reversals, I'm not sure I understand the question so I apologize. But reversals happen with just about any deck mundanely and aren't inherently more significant imo.
